Italian friends gave the city of Togliatti a new green alley

On September 2630th, 2013, the official delegation of Piacenza province (Italy), represented by its vice-president of Mr. Maurizio Parma and the member of the city council Mr. Tomas Pagani Lambri, visited Togliatti. The purpose of the visit was a further development of cooperation and participation in the Russian-Italian mutual project FORESTA dedicated to rehabilitation of forests destroyed during massive fires in 2010.

During their visit, the Italian delegation met the people from the city administration. In the course of the meeting, Mr. Parma indicated that they were happy to establish friendly relations and broaden cultural and business ties between Piacenza and Togliatti. Moreover, the vice- president gave a high appreciation to the educational and cultural project of the International Youth Linguistic camp that was held successfully in Togliatti for a number of years. In his turn, Mr. Parma invited Togliatti children to visit the International mountain camp of Piacenza.

On Sunday, the Italian delegation participated in the final part of mutual Italian-Russian project for rehabilitation of forests destroyed during massive fires in 2010. Together with children of Togliatti schools and lyceums, children of the International Youth Linguistic camp, the Italian delegation, the city mayor S. Andreev, and Mr. Gianguido Breddo, the Honorary Council of Italy in Samara Region and Republic of Tatarstan, planted 500 pine saplings. Despite cold and windy weather, all participants were happy to take part in such an important international act.

The project involved:

- From Russian side: mayor office of Togliatti, Povolzhsky Institution of Italian culture, Honorary consulate of Italy in Samara Region and Republic of Tatarstan, City Charity Fund Fund of Togliatti, Ministry of forests, environment safety and natural resource management of Samara Region, department of state control over forests and surveillance for Togliatti forestry and Samarales.
