Delegation of the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation visited Togliatti

April 19-21, a delegation of the Embassy of Japan in the Russian Federation and representatives of the Japan Foundation headed by Mr. Toshio Yamamoto, the Minister of the Embassy, had a visit to the city of Togliatti. The purpose of the visit was a participation in the Festival "Japanese Culture Week" in Togliatti as part of the official program of events of the Year of Russia and Japan 2018/2019.

On April 19, the delegation had an official meeting with Mr. Aleksei Buzinnyi, the Deputy Head for Finance, Economy and Development. The Minister of the Embassy, Mr. Tosio Yamamoto, said that in 2019 more attention is being paid to the activities in the framework of the Year of Japan in Russia, which are held in the regions. The city of Togliatti is among the cities, where the events will take place with the support of the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation.

Valentin Gorbachev, the Chairman of the regional department of the Russia-Japan Society, the director of the Institute of Eastern Culture, gaved the information about past and planned events of the cross year in Togliatti.

After the meeting in the administration, the delegation took part in the opening event of the Week of Japanese Culture at the site of the Library of the Cultural Center "Avtograd".

At the opening of the festival Week of Japanese Culture, there were the exhibitions named World of Kokeshi and My Japan, as well as traditional Japanese dances performed by Japanese theater actress with explanations of Mrs. Tatyana Sokolova-Delyusina, the famous Russian orientalist and translator.

On April 20, threre was an open meeting with representatives of the Japanese Foundation at the site of the Institute of Eastern Culture. Everyone could listen to one of the greatest works of Japanese classical literature - The Tale of Genji.

On April 21, the visitors of the Library of the Cultural Center "Avtograd" could take part in a master class of the Japanese master of calligraphy.

The festival "Week of Japanese Culture" in Togliatti will continue until April 28.
