Sports schools of Togliatti summed up the academic year

On August 10, the first persons of the city, famous Togliatti athletes, heads of sports schools, coaches, teachers, doctors of sports medicine gathered in Universal Sports Complex "Olympus". The participants of the meeting summed up the results of the academic year, outlined the tasks for the future and outlined ways to solve the existing problems.

We begin the cycle of reports of the August conferences from the most advanced branch - physical culture and sports. Our city is rich in sports traditions and high sports achievements. 22 Olympic champions and prize-winners of the Olympic and Surdalympic games, 100 prize-winners of the world championships and Europe brought up in Togliatti. Tolyatti's sporting fame was brought by Anatoly Yarkin, Alexei Nemov, Alexander Gerunov, Irina Bliznova, Nadezhda Muravyova, Daria Dmitrieva, Vasily Koshechkin and many others. Head of the Department of physical culture and sports Alexander Gerunov told the audience about the work of the industry in 2018. In his report, he focused on the achievements of our athletes, competitions, clubs in the community and the introduction of the GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense) system.

Togliatti is working on 82 sports, 34 of them are Olympic. In 2018 more than 300 sportsmen of the city became winners and prize-winners of competitions of various levels. The main indicator here is the achievement of our students, because in many ways it is thanks to them that the sport gains popularity, said Alexander Gerunov.

Togliatti has a rich experience in holding high-level sports events of international level. One of these is the annual "Children's Handball Festival ", the organization of which was told by the Director of the sports school "Olympus" Andrey Stepanov. The head of the planning and evolvement office of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports Vladimir Ivanov reported on the prospective construction of sports facilities in Togliatti. Also during the conference, issues were raised on the implementation of the GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense) complex and communications of sports schools and communities in social networks.

At the end of the first part of the event the results of which was summed up by the Deputy head of the city for social Affairs Yulia Bannova the participants continued to work in the sections. The experience of such a format is considered to be in demand and useful. Therefore, the August conference of the "physical culture and sport" branch will now become a traditional one.
