Russian and Italian teachers took part in an online videoconference

On February 19, the Volga Institute of Italian Culture Dante Alighieri organized an international videoconference of teachers of Russian language in Italy and the Italian language in Russia. Teachers from Rome, Moscow and Togliatti (30 participants from each side) discussed the issues of cooperation between Russian and Italian schools, the implementation of joint international projects in the field of education, and the international student exchange programs. On this online meeting the program for the popularization of the Italian language in Russia PRIA was introduced by Giuseppe Lo Porto, the Head of the education department of the Consulate General of Italy.

The representatives of the Ministry of of Education and Science of the Samara region, the Department of Education, Department of International and Interregional Relations of the Office of the Mayor, as well as heads of schools and vocational institutions of Togliatti took part in the conference.

Tatiana Burobina, the President of the Volga Institute of Italian Culture voiced that such a three-way videoconference was the first experience for the teachers from Togliatti.

- It gives a lot of opportunities for constructive international dialogue, - said Tatiana. - The Italian language is becoming more popular in Russia and in our city. That is why the representatives of the Ministries and Russia and Italy expressed the idea to introduce the Italian language in the Russian education system. In early March, Mr. Lo Porto plan to visit Togliatti to discuss these prospects. In addition, on February 20, inMoscow on is scheduled a conference on this matter. In case of both sides approve the proposal; the Russian students may have an opportunity to study Italian at school, along with English, German and French.
