On 08.10.2011, the president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed the directive “On carrying out of the seasons for the Russian language and literature in the French Republic, and the French language and literature in the Russian Federation”, for the purpose of a further development of the Russian/French relations. The organizing Committee in charge of carrying out of the seasons of the Russian language and literature in France, and the French language and literature in Russia is chaired by Serguey Naryshkin, the head of administration office of the Russian president. The work will be coordinated by the special representative of the Russian president on the issues of international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy.
According to the information of the Russian centre for Science and culture in Paris, on the 28.01.2012 the Opening ceremony of the seasons of the Russian language and literature at Kremlin-Bicetre will be carried out, and the Rusophonia awards will be presented.
Among other principal events organized by Rossotrudnichestvo, the following may be mentioned: participation of Russia in ExpoLang, the International language Fair, the Paris Book Salon, and the Week of Foreign Cultures, and others.
For Russia, it is a pilot project as part of the development of the State concept for the support of the Russian language abroad.
By all accounts, the Seasons will symbolize a new stage in the French-Russian relationship in general, and improve the level of language study in both countries.
